The government of the municipality of Los Cabos is in the process of implementing a new charge dedicated to the betterment of the local community. Below you will find the details.

The collection of environmental sanitation fee will begin to be charged to reservations made from September 6, 2022 and will be operated by the municipality of Baja California Sur. Tourists who book after that date will begin to be charged, if you already have your reservation paid before the stipulated date, you will be exempt from the charge.

How will it be charged?

The charge will be included in your reservation confirmation letter.

How much money will I be charged?

In Cancun You will be charged $76 Mexican pesos per room, per night. approximately $5 USD depending on the exchange rate

In Los Cabos You will be charged $38 Mexican pesos per room, per night. approximately $2.5 USD depending on the exchange rate

What will they do with that money?

The money raised will be used to support government investment in environmental infrastructure, sustainability and safety practices, among other projects that will help continue to maintain a world-class tourist destination.

Who manages the funds?

All the funds will go to a private trust and will be administered by a supervisory board that will include the participation of sustainability experts, the private sector and the authorities, whose sole purpose is the correct management of the Fund's resources.
