In previous blogs, you have found the holy grail for your long-awaited vacation. However, the most crucial question remains: Where will you go?
Mexico boasts several stunning destinations, but in this blog, we highlight an excellent option to consider. While the Mexican Caribbean is home to some of the most famous beaches, the waters of the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez have been gaining popularity due to their cleanliness and environmental care.
To help you choose, we will discuss three key recognitions: Safe Travels, Blue Flag, and Playas Platino. All are significant, so their order is not indicative of importance.
The first recognition is the Safe Travels badge, awarded by the World Travel and Tourism Council, an organization comprising the presidents of leading travel and tourism companies worldwide. This council works to raise awareness in one of the most crucial sectors globally.
With the new normal, the council collaborated with governments and health experts to develop protocols and action plans that provide the public and private sectors with the tools necessary to ensure safe travel experiences.
As a result, the #SafeTravels badge was created. After undergoing evaluations, establishments such as airlines, hotels, restaurants, and cities are awarded this emblem. Notably, the destinations of Los Cabos, Cancun, and the Solaris Hotels have earned this recognition by complying with all the guidelines established by the World Travel and Tourism Council.
If you dream of relaxing by the waves in Los Cabos, you'll be pleased to know that some of its beaches now boast two prestigious certifications: Blue Flag and Platinum Certification. But what do these certifications mean?
The Blue Flag Certification is an environmental award granted by the European Foundation for Environmental Education. Seeing this flag means you're on a clean beach with excellent water quality, high safety standards, and continuous efforts to protect local coasts and ecosystems. Learn more about the Blue Flag certification in this Santa Maria beach video.
Certified Blue Flag beaches include Acapulquito, Playa Chileno, Corsario, Hacienda, Las Viudas, Palmilla, Santa María, La Ribera, and El Médano, among others.
Among these, five beaches are recognized as the first in Mexico to receive the Platinum Beach award by the Mexican Institute of Standardization and Certification AC (IMNC). This recognition is given to beaches that improve and strengthen their environmental conditions with the support of private initiatives and the government to meet high standards of quality and sustainability. Every time you dive into these waters, you can proudly say you’re swimming in some of the best beaches in Mexico.
Platinum Certified Beaches: Santa María, Las Viudas, Chileno, Palmilla, and Acapulquito.
If you're still undecided about your next vacation destination in Mexico, consider exploring this incredible region. Beyond the perfect blend of desert landscapes and colorful towns, you’ll discover an oasis of breathtaking beaches at every turn.
