GR Caribe by Solaris

This was my husband and my first trip to Cancun and this resort made all the difference. Firstly, the food is FANTASTIC. Secondly, the hotel staff was amazing. And thirdly, the ocean views were incredible. Everything was clean, and the staff was absolutely dedicated to creating an amazing experience for everyone. When we come back, this is exactly where we will stay. Thank you GR Caribe for the most amazing time. I just can’t express how wonderful and honored we felt to be here.

We just returned from a fantastic stay at GR Caribe by Solaris and would recommend this resort to any one! For our first time in Mexico, the hotel was clean, the staff welcoming and friendly, and the food and drinks abundant and delicious. The access to the neighbouring Royal Solaris was a wonderful surprise, as it gave us access to more restaurants, bars, pools, and other amenities. Our hotel room was on the GR Caribe side, and had an incredible view of both the lagoon and ocean from the step-out balcony. The room was extremely spacious and bed was very comfy. Housekeeper Vianey kept our room spotless every single day and restocked the fridge daily with alcohol, soft drinks, and lots of water bottles. The three restaurants were fabulous, and we managed to get day-of reservations at all, and had incredible servers like Alberto at Bogovante and Cesar at Rosmarinus. Nancy and Auri kept the drinks flowing at the Royal Lobby Bar, where we spent most evenings after dinner, enjoying the wonderful lounge singer and performers. The GR Caribe Lobby Bar was a lot smaller than the Royal side, and fills up quicker, but we enjoyed the sax player and other evening musicians on our way to a dinner reservation or the Royal Las Fuentes buffet for dinner. Flor and David helped us out at the front desk, during check-in, or when we had some troubles accessing the app, and were nothing but a pleasure to speak to. The app did take some getting used to, and we learned the hard way that you can only have one dinner reservation on the go at once. However, this was understandable so that people don’t hog reservations, and we still managed to get in everywhere and each day we wanted to. GR Caribe bellhop Fernando was kind and friendly during our check-in and check-out, and kept our bags safe on the last day when we were still able to access all bars, restaurants, and amenities (like the showers and change rooms on the Royal side!) after checking out at 11:00 AM, since our airport shuttle wasn’t until later in the evening. We really appreciated this service! Poolside entertainers Yasmin, Aline, and Maxine were always high energy and full of smiles during the day at the GR Caribe pool as they led daily events and entertainment like bingo and aqua aerobics, and we especially loved the pool side ceviche cooking class with Gio and chef Antonio. The Royal pool is a lot larger and with more daily activities, and definitely more of a party thanks to the swim-up bar, but we personally preferred to spend our days either at the ocean-front loungers, or poolside at the GR Caribe pool or hot tub, as these were quieter, and had nice shady spots in the hot sun. The highlight of our trip was definitely Fatima, Caribe poolside server who never failed to have a big smile on her face and was on her feet circling the pool, hot tubs, and ocean-front loungers all day every day, taking drink orders. Fatima was such a pleasure to speak to and her kind and generous spirit did not go unnoticed! The food at the buffets was good, and there was a great effort made to have a variety of options to satisfy everyone. All the buffet servers we had were kind and prompt with drink orders. We loved staying on the GR Caribe side as the hotel had a quaint and unique appearance, feeling a little more authentic and intimate, especially since it was smaller than the Royal. There were also great amenities like a theatre, with a daily evening show, a spa, a tennis court, mini-put course, and gym, however we didn’t get to take advantage of them. The hotel being only 15-20 minutes from the Cancun airport was a huge plus, and helped us get to the fun that much faster! Overall, we had an incredible time at GR Caribe and Royal Solaris, and can’t wait to return!
